What is a bassinet?

Bassinet definition - A basket used as a baby's bed, typically in the first several months of life. A bassinet is usually hooded, and will form a type of closed environment that is believed to comfort small babies.

Ideal Home Garden Explains

There are health benefits for infants who use a bassinet instead of a regular mattress. This is also a great option to have for newborns in order to keep them close to their parents at night. Since a bassinet takes up less space than a crib, it is more than likely able to fit in most bedrooms, where a crib would not.
