Ideal Home Garden Explains
Toile is a pattern typically seen in bedding and wallpaper, and actually originated in Ireland, though it is often thought of as French. Toile did become very popular in France and England during the 18th and 19th century, and has been produced since. The rural pattern is known for using a lighter, solid background color, typically white, with the overlaid pattern in a second solid color, usually red, black or blue.
