Spider Punch

Try this alcoholic punch for a frightening cup of spider-strewn "blood", perfect for adults' Halloween parties.

What You'll Need:

  • Black plastic spiders, medium sized (don not use small spiders, they will be hard to see)
  • 3 parts Vanilla vodka
  • 1 part espresso (or coffee for a less caffeinated option)
  • 1 part black anise liqueur

  1. Combine each ingredient in a cocktail shaker, filled with ice.
  2. Mix, then pour into individual glasses, or pour into a large punch bowl.
  3. Garnish glasses with the plastic spiders, which can hang off the edge of the glass, and into the drink. If the spiders do touch the drink, make sure you thoroughly washed each one before use.

Black Swamp Punch

Perfect for a spooky Halloween party treat, make this solid black punch to serve in a frightening bowl. With simple and very inexpensive ingredients, you'll be able to serve as much as your guests can drink.

What You'll Need:

  • 1 packet of grape juice mix
  • 1 packet of orange juice mix
  • 3 quarts of water
  • 1 liter of ginger ale
  • 2 cups of sugar
  • Alcohol to taste (if you would like to make the punch for an adult Halloween party)

  1. Pour all of the ingredients except ginger ale into a large punch bowl.
  2. The grape and orange drink mixes should combine to form a black liquid.
  3. To avoid the ginger ale losing carbonation, do not add it to the punch until immediately before it is served.

Bleeding Heart Punch

Watch this interactive punch "bleed" right before your eyes.

What You'll Need:

  • 3 ½ cups of Strawberries
  • 24 ounces of cranberry juice concentrate
  • 1 bottle of sparkling water or Champagne

  1. Slice each strawberry in half, from top to bottom.
  2. Cut a V shape in the top, middle of each slice, creating a heart shape.
  3. Lay each strawberry heart on a plate or baking sheet, then place in the freezer for one hour.
  4. Remove frozen strawberries, and combine in a large punch bowl with sparkling water and cranberry juice concentrate. If using Champagne, do not combine ingredients until immediately before they will be served.
  5. As the strawberry hearts melt, they will "bleed" red into the drink.

Dry Ice Effect

Once you have made your Halloween punch, presentation can be half the fun. For a cool "misty" effect surrounding your drink, try using dry ice and a witch's cauldron (found at many stores, often inexpensively, around Halloween).

  1. Wearing very thick gloves, set a block of dry ice in the bottom of the witch's cauldron.
  2. Be extremely careful not to touch the dry ice, as it can severely burn bare skin.
  3. Using a hammer, break up the block of ice so it sits lower in the cauldron, and covers the entire bottom.
  4. Pour water into the cauldron until the dry ice mostly submerged.
  5. The combination of the ice and water should cause the ice to begin creating mist.
  6. Set the punch bowl inside the witch's cauldron, on top of the dry ice and water.
  7. The mist will now be forced out of the witch's cauldron around the edges of the punch bowl, creating a spooky effect for guests to enjoy while serving their drinks.
